bailey

Hey PHS:  Even the puppy looks happy!  They named them, Marley (golden) and Maggie (puppy).   Their dog is now eating!  She wasn’t until today.  She lost her mother two weeks ago and this poor guy was getting chickens from the deli and hand feeding their dog, Bailey.

So tonight Bailey ate dog food.   The puppy is even smiling in the picture. J  Good day!  Joanne   PS: They spent $50 for the dogs and $200 at Petsmart!

ellie

We adopted Ellie (formerly Gizmo) on Saturday, June 9th. We were looking for an adult dog that would be good with young kids, cats and dogs. We happen to look in the puppy room and saw her.

My twins automatically went up to her cage and she was soo sweet with them. We brought her home and introduced her to our other dog and they have been buddies every since. The cat, well I guess you can't please everyone but he is coming around. She is soo gentle and playful. No food aggression.

She has just been a delightful addition to our family. We are not sure of her history but we all just love her.

It's hard when you go into the shelter because you just want to take them all home. I am soo glad we got her. The Staff and volunteers at the shelter were very nice and very helpful, even though you guys were soo busy. Thank you all very much.

Thanks - The Neal family

rocky

Rocky, is a beautiful curly hair multi colored St. Bernard mixed.  He was very sick when he was adopted, with both hook and round worms, along with a bad kennel cough and a respitory infection.

Rocky is 100% better now.  He has two brothers "Harrison" (cat) and "Tiny (minipin) with whom he gets along with very well. I have enclosed pics of him playing and sleeping with his brothers, and is with his forever home at the Coneys!

D.C. Dumpster Kitty No More

After living for over a year at the dumpster, D.C. (Dumpster Cat) decided to give humans a chance.  Her true nature of a very loving girl came through and she became the office kitty.  D.C. has now found a forever home with the little girl of her dreams.

Bandit Goes to New York

Bandit sat for weeks in the shelter with no takers.  But when Pam saw him on Petfinder, she knew he was meant to be with her.  Nevermind she lived in New York and Bandit was in Georgia!

After scheduling her vacation and driving all night to Georgia, Bandit and Pam were united!  Bandit seemed to recognize her when she walked in the door!

Many of our shelter pets have found homes all over the country thanks to national exposure on Petfinder.com

A Strong-willed Kitten Named Stormy

Little Stormy was found in the pouring rain one winter morning against a curb at Walmart.  She was only six weeks old and near death from the cold.  Stormy was a fighter, making a full recovery and now living in a warm and loving forever home.

rufus

We have another success for you!  Just over a year ago we adopted Rufus.

Rufus was leaning up against the door of this run at the shelter, looking at us with such sweet eyes. He was big and beautiful and we couldn't do anything but sweep him up and take him home.

Rufus spent his first month getting over a terrible upper respiratory infection.  Rufus got his health back and quickly wiggled his way deep in our hearts.

He's famous for his strong tail that knocks everything off the coffee table and sounds like a knock on the door when it hits against the wall (it's the tail of doom!!). Rufus loves to play with his doggie brothers -- he runs and grunts and plays tug of war and almost always wins!

He adores the kitten Neysa and buries his face in her tummy while she cleans his ears.

Our lives would not be the same without him!

neysa

We adopted Neysa in October of 2006. She was so small and still had her kitten teeth, not to mention a nasty upper respiratory infection. We nursed Neysa back to health, had her spayed and finally were able to introduce her to our house.

Now Neysa loves to play with her kitty brother Snoopy and her doggie brothers Rufus and Shane. We call her a little freak because she loves to race all through the house to her scratching post and lay on her side on the floor while she runs in circles with her feet on the post...around and around and around!

Neysa captures the hearts of everyone who comes in our door --even those with the dreaded kitty allergies!

Help for Sadie

Sadie was found running along a busy highway.  Her leg was badly mangled from  being struck by a car.  The Humane Society's Medical Fund was available to get Sadie to the vet, where surgery was performed.

Although Sadie's leg had to be removed, she never lost her spunk.  Today she is in a happy home, living life to the fullest.

Lefty Becomes a Star

A shy, once- abused fellow  with only one ear, Lefty won the hearts of his new owners when they spotted him at the shelter and has gone on to greatness.  Voted "Companion Animal of the Year" by the Georgia Veterinary Association, Lefty is also a Certified Therapy Dog, visiting the sick and elderly in his community.

Chuckie Finds His Boy

After months of waiting for a new home and always being overlooked for a younger dog, Chuckie found his life-long friend  in Michael.  As soon as they met, the bond was obvious. They were off to explore new adventures, never looking back again!
