"Make Every Month Prevent
a Litter Month"
A total of 2372 unwanted pets were euthanized in Paulding in 2007 needlessly
- (Dogs 702, Cats 722, Puppies 167, Kittens 776, Other 5)
Begun by North Shore Animal League several years ago, this nation-wide campaign strives to bring attention to the
importance of spay and neuter to prevent the unnecessary deaths of unwanted shelter pets.
Every spring, cats and dogs that have not been spayed or neutered give birth to
countless puppies and kittens - overwhelming shelters all over the country with unwanted litters.
The Paulding Animal Shelter is already taking in litters of puppies and expectant
mother cats and dogs weekly, beginning the usual spring explosion early. As a result, there are always far more dogs and cats
than there are homes.
Each year in
this country, more than 5,000,000 unwanted animals are euthanized.
The only way to stop the needless deaths of 5,000,000 animals a year is to stop overpopulation; and the only way
to stop pet overpopulation is through spay/neuter.
It
may sound like a simple solution, but the road to reaching this goal is still long and steep. By understanding the vital importance
of spay/neuter and its impact on the overpopulation problem, you can help to make a difference.
Won't you please do your best to help us end the needless suffering
and euthanasia of millions of pets each year?
Please urge your family, friends and co-workers to also do the right thing and SPAY/NEUTER their pets. Do it
for them if you have to! Together, we can stop the needless destruction of innocent animals.
